Happy Hanukkah!

Happy fourth day of Hanukkah to all of you who celebrate it!   I'm stopping in today with a fun card using the Star of David stamp set from  CAS-ual Fridays!

Hanukkah | handmade card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | CAS-ual Fridays Stamps | cardmaking | papercraft | Star of David

To make my card, I printed a Star of David image I found online and cut it out with an x-acto knife, creating a stencil.   I taped the stencil to my panel and then used the long Star of David border image and stamped through the stencil, covering it completely.   The magic happens when you lift your stencil to reveal your stamped image!  How fun is that?!

Hanukkah | handmade card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | CAS-ual Fridays Stamps | cardmaking | papercraft | Star of David

I stamped the sentiment with Versamark and heat embossed with gold embossing powder.   I added a few Nuvo drops here and there for even more shine!   I added some super thin gold washi tape to the edges of my focal panel and then mounted it to a black card base.

Hope you've enjoyed my card today!   If you are interested in shopping the CAS-ual Fridays store, be sure to use code KIMBERLY16 for a 15% discount on your entire purchase!

BRI #Hashtag Stamps Blog Hop

Hello, hello!    I'm joining the fun over at Butterfly Reflections, Ink., today as a stop on the #Hashtag Stamps Blog Hop!     You should have arrived via Coralynn's fabulous blog.

Vanessa from BRI has collaborated with Bossy Joscie on two fun new stamp sets featuring large words with supporting hashtag sentiments - these are so much fun to use!   Let me show you the fun card I created with the larger 4x6 #Hashtag stamp set....

Nuvo Glimmer Paste | Handmade card | papercraft | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Kimberly Rendino | Hashtag | clear stamps

So I recently ordered some of the Nuvo Glimmer Paste from BRI - and this stuff is AH-MAZING!!!!!   I can't say enough about how awesome this stuff looks - especially on black cardstock!   Wowza!  I used a stencil from Echo Park and the Sapphire Blue glimmer paste to create my background panel.   And since it was so awesome, I didn't want to add a ton to it - I stamped and heat embossed the "Whatever - #itiswhatitis" sentiments onto a strip of Lush Lagoon cardstock from MFT (a perfect match for the Sapphire glimmer paste).   I bordered the sentiment strip with some black cardstock strips and foam mounted the strip across my glittery panel.

And there you have it!   A simple, and rather elegant reminder to just relax and deal with whatever is coming at ya....it is what it is, right?

Your next stop on the hop is my sweet & talented friend, Samantha Mann.   Be sure to hop along and leave comments at all the stops for your chance to win one of two prizes - a 4x6 #Hashtag Stamp Set or a 3x4 #Hashtag Bossy Stamp Set.   Leave your comments by Monday, December 26 at noon.   Winners will be announced on the Butterfly Reflections, Ink. blog on Tuesday, December 27th!

I used supplies from Newton's Nook Designs and Impression Obsession to create my woodland shaker card!

I created my soft background blending several shades of green Distress Ink.  I then spritzed the Impression Obsession Pine Cover-A-Card background stamp with Perfect Pearls Mist and stamped over top of the inked background.    The result is a soft, shimmery pine background.   I die cut an oval, slightly offset, from the background panel to create my shaker.

For the background of my shaker, I created a night sky with Distress Inks and stamped the deer and rabbits, as well as several of the snowflakes from Newton's Nook Designs'  Serene Silhouettes stamp set.  The shaker card is filled with Flower Soft - it makes the perfect snow!

The sentiment, from Newton's Nook's Holiday Tweets, was heat embossed onto a black strip with gold embossing powder.   The entire piece was mounted to gold glitter paper and then a black card base.

I love how it looks like you're catching a glimpse of a sweet woodland scene through the pine trees!

Sending You a Cup of Happiness!

Hello there!   I'm stopping in with a card for the Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop - and since today is National Cocoa Day, what better way to celebrate than with a nice big cup of hot chocolate?
hot chocolate card by Kimberly Rendino | hot cocoa | coffee lovers bloghop | handmade card | papercraft | cardmaking | Your Next Stamp

I used stamps from Your Next Stamp to create this adorable scene.   How freaking adorable are the marshmallows swimming around in the cocoa?   I can't even handle it!

I hope you are having a blast checking out all of the awesome coffee/tea/cocoa cards along the hop.   A big thanks to you for stopping by my blog!   If you'd like to see more of my work, you can find me on Instagram!   Hope to see you soon!

Happy Holidays & Some News

Hi there crafty friends!   I have some news to share as well as a card today - but lets get to the card first, shall we?
Happy Holidays card by Kimberly Rendino | handmade card | Newton's Nook Designs | Christmas | tags | cardmaking | papercraft

I've used the Newton's Nook Designs' Tag Sampler stamp set to create the background for my card.   I stamped the back side of one of the tag images repeatedly on my kraft cardstock using brown, red and green inks from Lawn Fawn.   Then I heat embossed the stitched tag shape over top with white embossing powder.   I like the random look of the tags going in different directions!

To finish off the card, I stamped the sentiment, from Holiday Smooches, onto a black cardstock strip and angled the end.   I adhered it to my card and added a die cut tree, complete with glitter star, from the Festive Forest die set.   The tree fits perfectly on the tag!

Alrighty, so now for the news - sadly, this is my last official post for Newton's Nook.   I want to thank Jen & Jeff for such an awesome opportunity!!  I've had a blast these last two years!   Also, a huge thanks to all of you who have left comments on my posts - I've appreciated every single one, and I hope you still stop by my blog when you get a chance!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop!

Welcome to my stop on the Deck the Halls With Inky Paws Blog Hop!  I've created a spinner card to share with you today!

spinner ornament card by Kimberly Rendino | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | handmade card | holiday | christmas | ornament | spinner card | newton's nook designs | taylored expressions | cardmaking | papercraft

I stamped two of the ornament from Beautiful Baubles  and colored them with Copics and a Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pen then die cut them out.    Love the sparkle!!  I sandwiched a piece of gold thread between the two ornaments and set it aside.

I embossed the cardfront with an embossing folder from Taylored Expressions and then die cut a circle from the front.  I added a red circle frame die from MFT to give it a nice finished edge.

To complete the card, I adhered the ornament on the string to the inside of the card.  To cover the string, I adhered another piece of paper (with another circle cut out) to the inside of the card.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment, from Holiday Tweets, onto a strip of red cardstock and adhered it on the inside of my card.

Double Rainbow!

Hi friends!   Today I've got two cards to share with you using the CAS-ual Fridays Butterbows stamp set.   I couldn't decide whether I wanted to do white embossing on black cardstock or black embossing on white cardstock.....so I did both!

rainbow card by Kimberly Rendino | handmade card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | CAS-ual Fridays Stamps | rainbow | butterflies | encouragement | cardmaking | papercraft

These were super simple to put together.   I just stamped and heat embossed the rainbow and sentiment in the center of my card.   The MISTI tool made positioning a breeze!

The fun pop of color along the sides was created by coloring and blending a rainbow of Copic markers onto white cardstock.   Once I had it nicely blended, I added some colorless blender solution onto an old sweater and pressed it onto the colored sheet.   When I lifted the sweater, there was some nice texture to the colored piece.

To finish the cards off, I cut thin strips from the colored piece and adhered them to the sides of my cards.  And the best part is, I still have some of the rainbow piece left that I can use for other cards!

Thanks for stopping by today, crafty friends!!

Santa's Tic-Tac-Toe Magnetic Board Game

Well hello!   I have been looking at all of the awesome holiday stamps sitting on my desk, and trying to think of ways to use them other than for traditional Christmas cards.   I absolutely adore the Sunny Studio Christmas Icons stamp set and thought that I could use several of the images to create a cute magnetic tic-tac-toe board that everyone can play throughout the holiday season!
magnetic tic-tac-toe game | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Sunny Studio Stamps | Christmas | holiday | santa | snowman | handmade | handmade gift | papercraft

I had an unfinished easel magnet board kit, so I pulled it out and started my project by using Mod-Podge to adhere several holiday patterned papers to the board.   Once dry, I added the magnetic piece with double sided tape.
magnetic tic-tac-toe game | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Sunny Studio Stamps | Christmas | holiday | santa | snowman | handmade | handmade gift | papercraft

I stamped the snowman and Santa images and colored them in with Copic markers.   I used my Scan-n-Cut machine to cut them out with a small border, and saved the file so that I could also cut them again from magnet paper.   I made sure to cut the mirror image (reverse)  - and this time I cut them without the border so they'd fit just right.  You can see what I mean about the mirror image in the picture below - see how the holly leaves in the snowman's hat are on the opposite side of the magnetic piece?
magnetic tic-tac-toe game | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Sunny Studio Stamps | Christmas | holiday | santa | snowman | handmade | handmade gift | papercraft
I stamped and heat embossed the game title with the Sweet Script alphabet set and cut it into a banner shape.   I added a piece of magnet to the back of this as well.

magnetic tic-tac-toe game | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Sunny Studio Stamps | Christmas | holiday | santa | snowman | handmade | handmade gift | papercraft

The board itself is made up of leftover pieces of  the magnet sheet - they aren't perfect, but they are completely fine for this!

magnetic tic-tac-toe game | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Sunny Studio Stamps | Christmas | holiday | santa | snowman | handmade | handmade gift | papercraft

I love that everything is removable!   I can use the easel without the game title and board to keep shopping lists, addresses, etc. handy with the cute snowman and Santa magnets when the game isn't in use!

Thanks for stopping by today!   Hope you've enjoyed my project.    See you again soon!

CHALLENGES

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #38

Hello, hello!   Can you believe it is December already?!   My Christmas cards are all done, so now it's time to start thinking about the thank-you cards I will need to send out after the holidays.

Today marks the beginning of a new Inky Paws Challenge (a color challenge this time!), so I decided to play along and start my thank-you card stash.  Here's what I came up with!

handmade card by Kimberly Rendino | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Newton's Nook Designs | holiday | rustic | thank you card | inky paws challenge |festive forest | stamping | cardmaking | papercraft

I stamped and heat embossed the trees from the Festive Forest stamp set on a strip of red cardstock.  The sentiment is from Vegetable Garden - I performed a quick bit of "stamp surgery" to change the horizontal orientation to a stacked orientation so that it fit a bit better.  I finished pulling all of the colors from the challenge in by adding a strip of aqua cardstock above and below the stamped piece and adding some patterned paper from Lawn Fawn which included hints all of the colors.  Super simple and easily replicated if you want to create a set!

I hope you have a chance to play along with this month's challenge!    For full details, head over to the Inky Paws Challenge page of the NND blog.

#seriouslyawesome!

Hi friends!   Stopping in quick today to let you know about the fun new stamp sets you can find now at Butterfly Reflections, Ink.!   BRI & Bossy Joscie have collaorated to bring you the #Hashtag stamp set and the #Hashtag Bossy stamp sets!  There are a ton of fun hashtag sentiments in these sets....stuff I'm always saying, lol!

I received my stamps the other day, and wanted to share a quick card with all of you!

#hashtag card by Kimberly Rendino | Concord & 9th | Butterfly Reflections, Ink.| heart | die cutting | distress inks | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | cardmaking | papercraft | clear stamps | handmade card

I used the fun Heartstrings die from Concord & 9th and created a pink ombre with Distress Inks.   I flicked on a little water for interest and once dry, I stamped and embossed some of the fun hashtag sentiments on a few of the pieces.   They fit perfectly!!   I stamped the large 'seriously' sentiment on acetate and fussy cut around it.   The card looked a little plain, so I stamped the heart included in the #Hashtag set a few times in a coordinating grey ink.   Not sure if I'm loving that, lol!

So this card goes out to Vanessa from BRI - seriously, girl -  you #nailedit!   :)
