Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop - Card #2

I'm back with another card for the Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop!   For this card, I stamped the leaf background and added Perfect Pearls for a shimmery touch of Autumn.   The tag is Distress Stains on watercolor paper and the sentiment and stamp are from PTI.

I'm not happy with how the cup turned out - I outlined it in white gel pen, but it picked up a bit of the ink color and it's not a nice pure white. Oh well - live & learn!   It's still pretty cute, and I'm sure a coffee loving friend would like to receive it in the mail! Maybe an enclosed gift card would distract from the imperfect coffee cup, perhaps?  Lol!

It's Stamptember with Newton's Nook & Simon Says Stamp!

Today is the day!   The brand new and exclusive Simon Says Stamp & Newton's Nook Designs collaboration set, "Hello Fall" is now available at the Simon Says Stamp store.

I was so excited to play with this set...Fall is my absolute favorite time of year, so combining Newton and Fall?   It was a win-win!!

I stamped Newton & Winston onto watercolor paper using Archival ink, and colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.   I added a few extra leaves to the scene to fill in some gaps.   The sentiment was stamped and embossed with brown EP.   The perfect finishing touches are a strip of orange paper die cut with Lawn Fawn's Stitched Borders,  and a twine bow tied across the top.

I'm completely in love with this stamp set....how about you?  Make sure you stop by Simon Says Stamp to get your Happy Fall stamp set - it's an exclusive and once it sells out, it's gone for good!

Have an awesome weekend, and happy shopping!

Fall Coffee Lovers Bloghop!

Hi everyone!!   It's that time again!   Time for a Coffee Lovers Bloghop!   It's fall (yay for PSL's!!!), so for my card I chose some Autumnal colors to work with from MFT, and I used the just released (and available today!) Newton Loves Coffee stamp set from Newton's Nook Designs.

I love that sentiment!  So appropriate for so many people....by the way - has anyone had the new Starbucks Graham Latte?  I tried it the other day (with the addition of some Cinnamon Dolce syrup) and thought it was pretty good!

Newton's Nook Designs September Release - Pick-a-Pumpkin + Dies!

It's day three of the September release, and today we have a new stamp set with coordinating die to show you!   Pick-a-Pumpkin is an adorable set with a variety of pumpkin patterns.  I  decided to use the woodgrain 'Thanks' pumpkin stamp and the die for my card!

To add even more interest to the cute pumpkin, I wrapped some fine gold thread around it several times and tied a double bow at the top.   The bird is from the Garden Whimsy stamp set.   He's tying the bow with his beak!  Both the pumpkin and the bird are on foam adhesive.    That gorgeous patterned paper is from MFT.

Newton's Nook Designs September Release - Touchdown Tails!

Today we're showcasing an awesome new stamp set from Newton's Nook Designs called Touchdown Tails - it is just the cutest football themed stamp set ever!Touchdown Tails | Newton's Nook | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | football | handmade card

For my card I stamped the background using the birthday sentiment and the football.  I love how it looks like patterned paper, and it really took very little time to do!  I created the little scene by coloring the football player Winston and his referee bulldog friend with Copics and fussy cutting them out.

I added some grass and inked my sky with Distress inks, then placed Winston inside the frame and stamped the sentiment.  I used an Action Wobble Spring on the bulldog and placed him at the edge of the frame.  I shot a quick video so you can see how cool he looks when he wobbles!  (Forgive the terrible iphone video, lol!)

MFT Card Design Superstar!

Hi guys!  I'm checking in before the weekend begins with a card I made for the MFT Card Design Superstar contest.   The contest ends at midnight, so I'm getting this one in by the skin of my teeth, lol!

So this turned out to be a little more complicated than I would've liked....but you probably can't tell by looking at it, lol!   I used the Label Maker Sentiments set and repeatedly stamped the birthday label stacked and staggered so that there was no white space.   I then cut  the entire thing out by hand.   I temporarily mounted it onto a piece of patterned paper from the Dots & Stripes Sorbet patterned paper pad.  I ran the piece through my Vagabond with the Happy die centered (I had to be sure I saved all the negative space pieces!).   I cut another happy from Summer Splash cardstock and fit it into the main panel, reattaching the negative space pieces as well.   I removed the Birthday portion and re-adhered it using foam adhesive.   The dimension looks really cool!  I added a few Pretty Pink Posh sequins for a bit of sparkle!

Hope you've enjoyed taking a look at this card...hope you have a fantastic weekend

Inky Paws #25 - Halloween!

Woo-hoo!   It's Friday....and it's time for another Inky Paws Challenge over at Newton's Nook!   The theme for this challenge is Halloween, so I broke out one of my favorite NND sets - Spooky Street!

To create this card, I stamped the haunted house and embossed with black glitter embossing powder.   It looks SO cool in real life!   I colored in the windows with Copics and used my Scan N Cut to cut it out.   Once I had that done, I set it aside to focus on the background.   I really wanted to keep the haunted house the main focus, so I decided to keep the rest of the card one layer.

I die cut a circle into a piece of scrap paper and used it as a mask to ink on some Distress Ink in a mixture of blues, purples and blacks for the sky, and a mixture of greens and black for the grass.   I stamped the tree and bats and then added my haunted house with foam tape.   I added the sentiment on the inside of this card.

I hope you have time to play along with the challenge - it's fun and you could win a $10 store credit to the NND shop!

Guest Designer at Top Dog Dies

Hello friends!!  I’m super excited to be the Guest Designer on the Top Dog Dies blog today!  I was able to work with the amazing Leaf Mosaic Die as well as the Borders #2 and the Make A Banner dies.

For my first card, I die cut the Leaf Mosaic out of glossy white paper and broke out my alcohol inks!   I used a variety of green, gold and burgundy shades and pounced the ink over the entire die cut.   I cut the inside two squares out with a craft knife and set aside the two leaves for another card.   The sentiment stamped and embossed in gold is from the Winnie & Walter stamp set “The Party”.  (I performed a little bit of stamp surgery so that the sentiment would fit in the narrow space, lol!).

I stamped ‘birthday' on a burgundy strip of paper, scored it and notched the ends to make a banner that gave the card an extra pop of color.

My second card uses the two leftover leaves I had from the Leaf Mosaic die.  A simple sentiment stamped in gold (from the Cas-ual Fridays stamp set “Lovely Greetings”), some stacked and staggered scallops from the Borders #2 die set and a ribbon tied across the top finish this simple card.

I absolutely love the pierced detail on the scalloped borders!

My third project isn’t a card at all!  I thought I’d use the Make A Banner dies to create a bookmark.

I love that all of the pieces you need to create an awesome banner are here in this set.  To begin, I die cut two of the banners (one for the front, one for the back) as well as an extra border piece.  The border pieces were layered  offset to get a different look.    My initials were cut with the Vintage Alphabet die from gold glitter cardstock.   To put it all together, I scored the banner piece for the back just below the attachment holes so that it will act as a hinge.   I laminated my bookmark to make it extra sturdy, but you could definitely skip this step!   I attached the front and back with brads I found in my stash.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects today as much as I enjoyed creating them!   A big thank-you to Amanda for inviting me to guest design for Top Dog Dies!

Hope You're Feline Better!

Hi there, friends!   It's the end of the first back-to-school week here in New York.   The kids are so ready for the weekend!   And for that matter, so am I!

I'm sharing a get well card today made for a friend of mine - I hope it arrives in her mailbox before she sees it here, but I'm not sure that will happen, lol!  (Act surprised when you get it, M!)

I fussy cut the adorable kitty from Newton's Sick Day and colored him with Copics.  I was so in love with that patterned paper (from First Edition) that I just had to color Newton to match! The scalloped vellum piece adds even more softness to the (hopefully) serene color palette.  To finish the card, I heat embossed the sentiment and flicked some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in White onto the kraft card base.

That's it for me today!  Hope to see you back again soon.  Newton's Nook Designs release week is coming right up!   If you'd like to follow me on social media, you can find me on Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest! (Hint hint....you just may find a sneak peek of the Simon Says Stamp/Newton's Nook Designs collaboration set for Stamptember on my Instagram!!   Just sayin'...)  Have a great weekend!

Shell-abrate!

Hi guys!   Can you believe it is September already?   I just can't....we have company coming in from Texas tomorrow, then the kids go back to school next week.   So summer is pretty much coming to a screeching halt here!  So sad....

Seashell birthday card | Newton's Nook | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

But enough of that!   Here's a beachy themed birthday card because, hey - why not?   I'm going to try and hang on to summer just a little bit longer!!!

I used the new Tranquil Tides stamps and dies from Newton's Nook Designs for this card along with the sentiment from the In Slow Motion stamp set.   This card was pretty straightforward - I used the rock-n-roll inking technique to get a variety of color on each of my shells.

The sand dollar is die cut using both the sand dollar and small starfish die, cut one inside of the other.   That way, no stamping required!   I popped the sand dollar up on foam adhesive for some dimension.   I used some Glossy Accents squirted here and there as a kind of "water droplet" embellishment.  The embossed frame is from MFT....I love how it elegantly frames the shells!

Hope your week is off to a great start!
