July Calling All Sistah's Blog Hop!

It's that time, ladies!   Time to check yourself!   I'm here (along with a bunch of talented ladies joining us for the hop) to share some inspiration and provide that important monthly reminder, brought to you by CAS-ual Fridays!
paper crafts | cardmaking | support | cancer | embossing paste | glitter | friend | clear stamps | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | handmade card

I used a stencil along with Distress Ink and Bo-Bunny Glitter embossing paste to create the background for my heart.   I die cut the heart with the Heart Board Fri-Die from the center of my panel and then stamped the sentiment from Hope Ribbon directly below it.   I also added a strip from the background I created along the bottom edge.   I mounted the background piece to my cradles and then I used foam tape to add the die cut piece, giving it some fun depth.

I die cut the friend twice, once from black cardstock and once from white using  the Friend Fri-Die and adhered them to one another, offset just a bit.   I the word added across the heart (using foam tape for the middle section).

That completes my card!   I hope you've enjoyed....your next stop is the fabulous Lisa Lahiff's blog!  Be sure to leave some love as you go, as CAS-ual Fridays will be giving away prizes to several lucky commenters! (If you've lost your way, head over to the CAS-ual Fridays blog for the complete hop list!)

Newton's Nook 3 Year Blog Hop!

We are celebrating 3 awesome years!!!   Woo-hoo!   Congratulations, Newton's Nook!  Hop along with the design team and special guests as we celebrate this special occasion!

newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | handmade card | live love aloha | tropical | hibiscus | pineapple | cardmaking | papercraft

I wanted to play with some of the new dies that were just released (available in the NND store right now!!) - I added color to the Hibiscus die by ink blending with Lawn Fawn inks, and I stamped the pineapple from Pineapple Delight with several shades of ink using the rock-n-roll technique.
To create my tropical scene,  I used the Garden Window die to cut a white oval, black rectangle and yellow rectangle.   I layered all three pieces in the center of my white cardstock base and stamped the sentiment in the upper right hand corner of the oval and heat embossed it with black powder.

I added my die cut pieces, mounting some directly to the oval and using foam tape for dimension on other pieces.  I love how fun and tropical this turned out!   Ahhhh.....time for a vacation, I think!    All the tropical goodness we've seen this week has me longing for a beach vacation.....Hawaii sounds good! ;)

CAS-ual Fridays New Release - Day 6!

Hi there, crafty friends!   It's day 6 of CAS-ual Fridays mega-huge holiday release.   We have two more stamp sets to show you, and guess what?!?   Everything you've seen this week will be available for purchase in the CAS-ual Fridays store TOMORROW!   And you can use code KIMBERLY16 to save 15% on anything you'd like - new release, older sets you've just gotta have and even anything in the sale category!  Whoop-whoop!

So before you complete your shopping list, take a look at the last two additions to the holiday lineup - Star of David & Spin the Dreidel!

My first card uses both sets.   I stamped the dreidels, colored them in with some Dylusions Ink Spray and Perfect Pearls mist and then fussy cut them out - easy peasy!   The background was spritzed with several colors of Dylusions Ink Spray, and the sentiment (from Star of David) was heat embossed with silver EP.

I added the dreidels in the corner, the front one on pop dots.   Everything was adhered, offset on the blue patterned paper.

My next card uses just Star of David - I stamped the fun Star of David border with dark blue ink along the sides of my panel, then added some thin strips of silver glitter paper along the sides.   I stamped some of the other Star of David images in the center with a lighter blue ink.   I heat embossed the sentiment over top of those lighter images with silver embossing powder.

So, that's it for this awesome holiday release!   I hope you've found something that tickles your fancy - it's never to early to get a jump on your  holiday cardmaking!!   I'm excited that I now have quite a stack of cards done and ready to go - awesome!!  I'm usually a procraft-inator, lol!

Have a fantastic weekend, everyone!

I die cut several hibiscus flowers and leaves using the new Hibiscus standalone dies and added color with an ink blender.    I set the flowers aside and stamped Newton with his little ukulele directly on my cardbase.

I added color with Copic markers and then arranged the flowers and leaves below Newton - so tropical!!   I stamped and embossed the Aloha sentiment with black embossing powder.

CAS-ual Fridays New Release - Day 5!

Oh by gosh, by golly!   It's Day 5 of the CAS-ual Fridays release already!   We've got some super fun stamp sets to show you today! We're sharing projects made with Mistletoe & Holly & Holly Jolly Borders.

I've got two cards to share with you today - I used both of these fun new stamp sets on each one!

holiday | christmas | mistletoe | clear stamps | prismacolor pencils | oh by gosh by golly | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com
I began by stamping the whimsical chevron stripes with a soft brown ink onto a cream colored cardstock panel.   These are super easy to line up, and they'd work for any season!   I'm a big fan already!!

Since my background was so light, I was able to stamp the mistletoe image directly on the cardstock panel with a super light colored ink and then I colored the image in with Prismacolor pencils.   I added white Nuvo drops for the mistletoe berries - I love the subtle dimension they give!  All that was left to do was heat emboss the fun sentiment!
holiday | christmas | mistletoe | clear stamps | merry kissmas | prismacolor pencils | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

My next card would be a super one for making in bulk.   I stamped a single line of the dotty border from Holly Jolly Borders above and below the sentiment, from Mistletoe & Holly.   I then simply masked the borders and randomly stamped the mistletoe image with a soft brown ink above and below the borders.   Simple and fun!

There's one more day of reveals....what do you think so far?   Make sure you stop back tomorrow to see our last few stamp sets!

Newton's Nook Designs 3 Year Celebration - Paradise Palms

Today we have a gorgeous set to share with you - Paradise Palms!   I love this one - it just makes me want to go sit on a tropical beach and do nothing but relax!

tropical | palm trees | sunset | handmade card | cardmaking | clear stamps | newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | paradise
I began by cutting a window from the center of my black cardstock and then heat embossed the tiny palm trees all over with clear embossing powder.   I created the focal piece by coloring my sunset sky with Copic markers.   I stamped the palm trees with black ink.   I was so pleased with the result!

The sentiment was stamped in Copper embossing powder, which perfectly complemented the sunset colors.

tropical | palm trees | sunset | handmade card | cardmaking | clear stamps | newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | paradise

I adhered the sunset piece directly to my card base and popped up the embossed panel on foam adhesive so it is almost as if you are looking out a window at the tropical scene.

I hope you've enjoyed today's card!   There's more tropical goodness coming your way, so be sure to stop back again tomorrow!!

CAS-ual Fridays New Release - Day 4!

Day 4 has arrived!   CAS-ual Fridays huge Christmas in July release reveal continues today with a super fun stamp set and an awesome new Fri-Die!   Introducing Sleighride & the Sleigh Fri-Die!

holiday card | handmade card | christmas | sleigh | sleighride | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | papercraft | papercrafts | cardmaking | clear stamps

My card uses both - I cut the sleigh from silver glitter paper and again from blue.   I cut the runner off of the blue sleigh and adhered it  just a tiny bit lower onto the silver one so that there was a little bit of a silver edge peeking from the top.   I then die cut and added the inner portion of the sleigh.  I found the absolute PERFECT paper to use with this stamp/die from Pinkfresh Studio - all I had to do was add my sleigh and the fun sentiment from Sleighride, stamped in red ink.   This card truly is CAS - I hope you've enjoyed!

Be sure to comment on all the Girl Fridays' blogs this week - Michele is giving away a few gift codes to the CAS-ual Fridays store!   If you'd like to shop, remember to use code KIMBERLY16 to save yourself 15%!   See you again tomorrow!

Newton's Nook Designs 3 Year Celebration - Party Pops, Pineapple Delight & Tiki Time

Day two of the Newton's Nook July release brings us to the tropics!  I've got lots to show you today, so let's get started!

Confession - this may be my favorite card of the whole release - and it's definitely the simplest!   I stamped the popsicle in a semi-circle using my MISTI tool to ensure super coverage.   The sticks lined up providing the perfect place for the heat embossed sentiment!

I thought this was perfect as is, so I didn't add any further embellishment.   I just mounted the panel onto some black cardstock to make the sentiment POP!

Next up we have Pineapple Delight!

I stamped a variety of the pineapples included in this set with Memento Luxe pigment inks on kraft cardstock and heat embossed them with clear powder.

I stamped and heat embossed the sentiment with gold powder onto a torn vellum strip.   A few gold sequins finished off the card!

For my final card today, we have Tiki Time!

I began by inking the BACK SIDE of the tiki cups and stamping them to get a nice solid impression.   I then flipped the stamp to the correct side and inked over the top of my solid impression with brown ink.   I stamped and die cut the tiki cups and a variety of straws and umbrellas and added them to a strip of patterned paper.   The sentiment was stamped on a banner flag and added to the bottom right.   I love the font included in this set!!

I hope you've enjoyed my cards today - be sure to stop back tomorrow for some more tropical inspiration!!

Welcome back!  Christmas in July is continuing, with more holiday goodies from CAS-ual Fridays!!

Today we have two more stamp sets to share -  Partridge in a Pear Tree & Starlequin, an awesome background builder (plus, I just love the name!!!)

watercolor | heat embossing | partridge in a pear tree | cas-ual fridays | clear stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | handmade card | cardmaking | holiday | christmas

I stamped the pear tree onto some watercolor paper with Versamark ink and heat set it with gold embossing powder.  (Note - I didn't ink up the gift portion of the tree for my card.)  I also embossed one of the Starlequin borders at the bottom of my watercolor cardstock.   I colored everything in with Distress markers and Perfect Pearls for a shimmery watercolor look!

Newton's Nook Designs 3 Year Celebration - Freshly Squeezed & Dog Days of Summer

Hello, and welcome to the first day of reveals for Newton's Nook Designs July release!   We are celebrating 3 Years as well, so get ready - this is an awesome (not to mention HUGE) release!   It's going to be a blast!

Today we are sharing cards made with the brand new stamp sets Dog Days of Summer & Freshly Squeezed....so let's get to it!

dog | ice cream cone | handmade card | you make me smile | newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | stencil clear stamps

My first card features Dog Days of Summer.   I created my background by taping off the edges and blending yellow, pink & blue inks directly on my card base.   To jazz it up a bit, I used a stencil from MFT and sprayed Perfect Pearls Mist to create a subtle, sparkly pattern.

dog | ice cream cone | handmade card | you make me smile | newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | stencil clear stamps

I stamped and colored the dog and his ice cream cone with Copic markers and when I was done, I stamped again with Versamark and heat embossed with black embossing powder.   This was easily done since I used my MISTI stamping tool!    The embossing made it a lot easier to fussy cut the tiny images out.   I adhered the dog and ice cream and stamped and heat embossed the sweet sentiment to finish up this card!

newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | lemonade | lemonade stand | when life gives you lemons || handmade card | papercraft | cardmaking | clear stamps

My next card uses the Freshly Squeezed stamp set!   I did some more Copic coloring and fussy cutting here.   The background was created by stamping some of the words included in the set on a diagonal.   I added some patterned paper to the left hand side and then adhered my fussy cut image.

newton's nook designs | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | lemonade | lemonade stand | when life gives you lemons || handmade card | papercraft | cardmaking | clear stamps

The sentiment was heat embossed with black embossing powder and I added a few hearts from the Happy Little Thoughts die set cut from red paper and colored with a Spectrum Noir glitter pen.    I thought the hearts added a little love to the card - this sentiment is perfect for someone going through a rough time!

CAS-ual Fridays New Release - Day 2!

Hello, hello!   I'm bringing a little more Christmas to your July today with two more brand-y new stamp sets from CAS-ual Fridays!!   These are super fun - and they can also be used year round!  Without further ado - I bring you Christmas Sparkle and Tag Ornament Fri-Dies!

For my first card I used just the Christmas Sparkle stamp set.   Those fun rings could be stamped in any color your heart desires, and some of the sentiments can be used all year round - so this one is practically essential to have in your stash, lol!!

holiday | christmas | believe | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | clear stamps | embossing powder
I stamped several of the circles, overlapping a bit in Versamark ink and heat embossed them using colorful embossing powder by WOW!  The bright colors pop so much on the black cardstock!  The 'Believe' sentiment was also heat embossed on black cardstock, cut out and stacked for some dimension.   I adhered it in the lower corner of the embossed piece, then rounded the right side corners of the black piece for some interest.

holiday | christmas | believe | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | clear stamps | embossing powder

I stamped and heat embossed the starbursts, also from Christmas Sparkle, with clear embossing powder onto a red cardstock strip.   I adhered that to my card base and added the black piece to the center of my card.   I rounded the right side corners of the card and that finished this one off!

holiday | christmas | sequins | ornament | handmade card | cardmaking | papercraft | cas-ual fridays stamps | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | clear stamps | embossing powder

My next card uses both the Christmas Sparkle stamp set and the Tag Ornament Fri-Dies.   I cut the ornament out by nesting the large and small circles as I die cut them - resulting in a circular frame.   I colored my frame red with a Copic marker and then added sequins around the edge.   I lightly blended some Peacock Feathers Distress Ink onto the smaller circle and then stamped the 'Merry Christmas' sentiment from Christmas Sparkle in the center.   I die cut the ornament topper and hook from some shiny silver paper I found in my stash - perfection!  I let the hook dangle loosely for a realistic look.
