Lawn Fawn Happy Birthday

Hi everyone!   It's Friday!!   Let the weekend begin!!   I'm popping in quick today (again!) to share a card I made for the Lawnscaping Challenge and the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge.

Lawn Fawn bird birthday card by Kimberly Rendino | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com
I was so excited to use some new Lawn Fawn goodies on this card.   I used birds from a variety of sets - Party Animal, Critters on the Farm and Gleeful Gardens.   The awesome fractured background is a Spellbinders die.  It was begging to be made into a shaker card, so I used Distress Ink in Broken China, Mermaid Lagoon and Salty Ocean to make a blue sky background.   I thought the background just popped with the black die in front of it!    I filled the shaker with Distress Glitter and sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.   The Happy Birthday border die was colored with Copics (as were the cute birds), and made for the perfect finishing touch!

Hope you get a chance to play along with these awesome challenges!

Inky Paws #23 - Summer Lovin'

Hello again, friends - it's time for another Inky Paws Challenge over at the Newton's Nook blog!   With the Summer theme, I just had to break out the Newton's Summer Vacation stamp set!

Newton is looking cool with his shiny black shades, right?!   I colored the image with Inktense colored pencils and added some clouds cut with the new speech bubble die from the Newton's Naptime die set.  For added dimension, I stacked the cloud on the right four times.   The cloud on the left was notched so it would appear as if it was behind Newton's umbrella.

I hope you have a chance to play along!   I'm also entering my card in the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge - Inspired by the letter I (Inktense pencils)

and in the Muse Challenge #125.   I was inspired by the layout of Anita's beautiful card!!

Newton's Nook Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Newton's Nook Designs 2nd Anniversary Blog Hop!   Happy, happy anniversary, NND! Congrats on an amazing 2 years!

Ice cream birthday card for Newton's Nook Designs by Kimberly Rendino | Summer Scoops | sprinkles | shaker card
I've created a shaker card with the new Summer Scoops set!  The dies I used are from PTI - they make shaker cards easy!   The cute little ice cream sundae was colored with Copics.   The banner is from Simon Says Stamp - I masked the sentiment so I could make 'sprinkles'  a coordinating pink color!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release & 2 Year Celebration - Day 3

Welcome back to day three of the NND July release & 2 year celebration!   Today's new set is called Message in a Bottle - and there are matching dies available for this set as well!

Message in a bottle card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | ship | nautical | anchors

I love how this turned out!   I made my own background paper with the anchor stamp.   To make it a little more weathered and distressed, I used my ink blending tool and some Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

I die cut three bottles -  one out of the background paper, one out of light blue paper and one out of acetate.    I inset the light blue piece into my background paper, and positioned the die cut ship where I wanted it.   I then layered the stamped acetate bottle over the top.

I hope you've had a great time hopping along - aren't the new sets and the dies awesome this month? Be sure to enter to win!  See you soon with some more fun stuff! ;)

Newton's Nook July Release & 2 Year Celebration - Day 2

I'm back for day two of the Newton's Nook Designs July release!   Today we have a set filled with sweet treats - "Summer Scoops"!

This card is super simple - there was just a lot of masking involved!   The sweet treats were all colored with Copics and I added some Glossy accents to the popsicles.   A strip of washi tape across the top and some sequins from Pretty Pink Posh were all that was needed to finish off this card!

Newton's Nook Designs July Release & 2 Year Celebration - Day 1

DIES!   You guys!
Oh my, I'm so excited!   NND now has DIES!    And how about this cute new Newton set....I just love this one!   Newton on all his pillows and blankets - couldn't be cuter, right?

Newton's Naptime card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | double partial die cutting | embossing paste

I thought I'd really use the new die to its full advantage for this one, so I did a bit of double partial die cutting! Partial die cutting is a really cool technique - just place your die cutting plates so they don't completely cover up the die and then run it through your die cutting machine - you're left with a section of die still attached to your paper.  That's what I did here with Newton - his blankets are still attached to the panel.   After I did that, I placed a circle die so that it cut just the top part of the circle....then all I had to do was use a craft knife to connect the circle and the blanket.

The background is Distress Ink and the stars are stenciled on with metallic silver embossing paste.   I mounted the panel to some glittery white paper with foam tape so it pops up just a bit.  So now Newton is sitting by the moon, dreaming sweet dreams!

Shark Week at Newton's Nook Designs!

How cool is the new "Shark Bites" stamp set from NND?!   It's such a unique stamp set!   I hope you've gotten a TON of inspiration from "Shark Week"!

The "Snappy Birthday" sentiment cracked me up, so I thought I'd give my new shark friend a birthday hat (from the In Slow Motion stamp set).   He's got sharp, shiny teeth and he's about to get the fish that are stamped on the reverse side of the vellum!

Hope you've had fun checking out all of the shark projects this week - Shark Bites is unfortunately sold out already, but be sure to head over to Newton's Nook Designs for an awesome SALE!!!!  And don't forget, we'll be back next week with our July release and 2nd Birthday festivities!!
