Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash Card #4

Yay!   I was finally able to get my fourth card done for the Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash - today I chose Lea's Mood Board Challenge.

I was so drawn to the gold dotted scarf in the photo - I love how it looks on the see through material! I used that as my main inspiration and picked up some of the colors as well - the pale pink in the sweater and the raspberry color of the fringe.

I started by stamping the circles from Scenery: Big Bang Confetti with Versamark on vellum.   They were then heat embossed with gold embossing powder.   I die cut the vellum with a PTI banner die and then mounted each pennant onto off white and dark raspberry cardstock.   I used a bit of super thin washi along the top of the pennants and then poked holes in each and ran some gold thread through them to connect them all together.   The background is also stamped with Scenery: Big Bang Confetti in Versamark for a tone-on-tone look. I tried something a little different with the sentiment - I stamped with gold ink, then offset the stamp just a bit and used Versamark and gold embossing powder.   It's subtle, but I think it looks kind of cool!    The sentiment is a combination of the The Big, the Bold and You and Parentville.

I'm hoping to have a chance to do one more (two?   here's hoping!!) card today. It's been snowing all morning, so I am staying in and hibernating in my craft room with my coffee, lol!

Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge #17 - Use a Heart!

Yay!  It's Friday!   And it's also time for a new Inky Paws Challenge with Newton's Nook!   The challenge this time is to use a heart on your project.   This was an easy one with the adorable new January release!

I used Newton Dreams of Paris along with a new-to-me product, iCraft Deco Foil (in Rainbow).
The directions say to use their transfer adhesive, but I'm a rebel and thought I'd try it by stamping with VersaMark then adding sticky embossing powder, then burnishing on the foil - and it worked!   I'm super happy with the results, and I'll have to buy some more of the foil to have on hand!  Since the colorful Eiffel Tower is the main focus, I kept the rest of the card simple, by adding a strip of Washi tape and some black cardstock strips at the bottom.   Some little heart sequins finished the card off.

I can't wait to see what you all create for the challenge!   Have fun, and be sure to link up your creation back at the Newton's Nook blog for a chance to win a store credit!

Newton's Nook Designs January Release - Newton Dreams of Paris

Welcome to day two of the Newton's Nook Designs January release blog hop!  This set is entitled Newton Dreams of Paris, and it is oh so cute....ooh la la!!

My favorite image in the set has got to be Newton in the hot air balloon - it was the first stamp I inked up!   I used some watercolor markers in shades of aqua and red to color in most of hot air balloon and Newton is done in shades of orange and brown.  After I was all done, I realized Newton needed some clouds, so I cut a scalloped border from masking paper and lightly added some distress ink over top for a subtle cloud effect.  Of course we have the requisite sequins from Pretty Pink Posh, as well as a little clothespin that I coated with red Stickles for even more sparkle!

Hope everyone is having fun hopping along!   So which is your favorite set?  Personally I can't pick!  You'll be able to purchase both Newton Dreams of Paris and Wild About Zoo tomorrow in the Newton's Nook Shop!  Yay!  In the meantime,

Newton's Nook Designs January Release - Wild About Zoo

Hello! I'm so excited....today is the first day of the Newton's Nook Designs January reveal! Today marks the debut of "Wild About Zoo", a super cute new set.    There are so many options with this set - I think it would make an adorable baby card!  I had just received some new dies from Pretty Pink Posh, and I couldn't resist having the little animals peek out of the windows in the Stitched Filmstrip Die!

I stamped each of the animals on white cardstock and colored them in with Copics.  The sentiment is heat embossed (I LOVE that sentiment!)  I used a few of the patterned hearts included in the set to create a background using Versamark ink for just a subtle effect. The patterned paper strip was added and I felt like I needed to add in some more color so I punched out a few pink hearts and covered them with Wink of Stella glitter pen and glossy accents.  And because I can't say a card is complete until there are sequins on it, I had to add a few here and there!

W&W Birthday Bash Challenge Card #3

**Okay, I promise this is my last post of the day!   I am going to visit my best friend in Illinois tomorrow, so I'll be unable to post over the next week - just wanted to get everything posted before I'm away from the computer for a week, lol!**

Here's another challenge card for W&W's 1st Birthday Bash!   I LOOOVE shaker cards, so when I saw Julie's Shaker Card Challenge, I was all over it!   I had just received a new PTI die, and rather than make my usual shaker card using foam adhesive to seal the edges, I thought I'd try stitching this time!   I used elements from many W&W sets for this one - Scenery: Big Bang ConfettiV for CheVron and The Big, the Bold and the Happy.   Love how bright and cheery this turned out - I'll definitely try stitching on a shaker card again!  I found it a lot quicker.   It doesn't produce the nice "shake" noise, but it looks really cute nonetheless.

Congrats! A Winnie & Walter Birthday Bash Card

I'm back with another card for Winnie & Walter's first Birthday Bash celebration!  This one is for the Gradient Challenge with Vanessa .  I used the Scenery: Big Bang Classic Star Creative Screenings with embossing paste with Distress Ink reinkers to get the gradient look.   The 'Congrats' is a digital cut file from Winnie & Walter from the The Big, the Bold And You set.   It was die cut twice - once covered with silver ink, and once covered with Distress Ink.   After I adhered the two, offset just a bit, I covered the entire word with Glossy Accents.
I stamped the supporting sentiment and mounted the panel onto cardstock covered with Distress Ink for a perfect match!  And of course, there are a few of my beloved sequins from Pretty Pink Posh to add some sparkle & shine!

Head over to the Winnie & Walter blog for your chance to play along with these fun challenges - there are 10 (!!) of them!

Thank You So Much!

I'm playing along with some of the challenges over at the Winnie & Walter blog today!   This challenge is a Color Combo Challenge with Heather.   The challenge is to create a card incorporating white, silver/grey, mint/aqua and blue.  I chose to use one of Winnie & Walter's digital cut files, The Big, the Bold And You.   I blended various shades of blue & green distress ink for my background and then stamped the supporting sentiment words.   I heat embossed the snowflakes from Scenery: Big Bang Flurries with holographic embossing powder.   I wish the picture could capture more of the sparkle...it is beautiful IRL!  I mounted the journal card onto some silver glitter paper with foam adhesive.   To add in more of a true blue color, I blended some Tumbled Glass Distress Ink onto another (slightly larger) journal card and offset the two.   It still needed a little something else, so I used the Limited Edition Scenery: Bigger Bang Flurries set to stamp the burst in Hero Arts Silver ink.   I overstamped with Versamark and heat embossed some more of the holographic embossing powder.  That completes the card!

I have several other cards to link up to the fun challenges Winnie & Walter has going on over at their blog.   I'm hoping to get even more projects completed, as this challenge goes throughout the entire month of January!   Happy first birthday Winnie & Walter....and thank YOU so much for being awesome!

Newton's Nook Designs Inky Paws Flash Challenge!

Hello!   Newton's Nook Designs has a fun FLASH Challenge up on the blog today!   But you'd better be quick - you only have until January 10th to play along!    The theme is 'Thank You', and the winner will be chosen randomly.    Don't worry - you don't have to have NND stamps to play along (but there's a super cute new FREE digi up on the NND blog - go check it out)!

I printed the free digi and decided to have a little fun with it!   I traced over the lines with a clear embossing pen and then added some Wow embossing powder for the sentiment and clear embossing powder over the border.    After that was heat set, I used Distress Inks over top to add a colorful background.   I added some accents to the sentiment with a black Memento marker to make it stand out even more.    Some fussy cutting, dimensional adhesive and sequins from Pretty Pink Posh complete the card.

I hope you have time to play along!    I'll be back soon with projects for NND's January reveal, so make sure to stop back next week!
