Wedding Shaker Card

I'm here today with a shaker card I made for my sister's friend and her new husband - they were married (by my sister!!!) on the beach in Mexico.   My sis brought back some beach sand and I knew it'd make the perfect shaker filler!
**Excuse the poor iPhone photos.   I was in a hurry to get it to my sister and didn't have time to pull out my good camera!

The shaker portion is from the Sprinkles & Shakers set from PTI.    I printed out a verse from their ceremony on vellum and layered it over some ocean print patterned paper.    The filler is sand and microbeads as well as a few small shells.   Since the shaker was the main focus, the only additional things I added were the gold strip down the side of the card and the embossed front panel.

I hope they enjoy the card  - it was fun to make something that included a special memory for them!

Challenges:
Muse Challenge #114 (I utilized the embossed background and simple main focus element from Marion's gorgeous card)
Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge - Clean & Simple (maybe the shaker part wasn't exactly "simple", but it does have a clean & simple look, lol!)
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge  - Due Date (This was definitely on my to-do list - my sister needs the card for this weekend :)

I created a sweet scene with Winston watering his flowers.   He's fussy cut and colored with Copics, as are the fence pieces.   They are foam mounted for some dimension.   I am in LOVE with the little bird on the fence.   He's too cute!

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Fanciful Florals!

Today's release is the GORGEOUS set, Fanciful Florals!   I love this beautiful bold floral set.....I'm sure I'll be using this one a lot!

Fanciful Florals card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | bold floral |emboss resist | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

There are SO many possibilities with this set, but first I wanted to try out an emboss resist technique.  I stamped the flower onto white cardstock with white embossing powder, then buffed on Distress Ink in Peacock Feathers, Seedless Preserves, Picked Raspberry & Wild Honey.   To add a little dimension I added in some dot clusters using a new-to-me product, the Irresistible Pico Embellisher.  I love the font used for this set - so pretty!   I mounted the panel onto some patterned paper and added some interest to the sentiment by framing it with the same PP and some matching Distress inked strips.

Newton's Nook Designs April Release - Delightful Doxies!

Hello stampy friends!   It's time again for another awesome release from Newton's Nook Designs!   We're starting the festivities by showcasing "Delightful Doxies" - this set is so stinkin' cute!

Delightful Doxies card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | doxies | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

I was trying to decide which of the cute doxies to use when inspiration hit - what if I sandwiched the sentiment between two ends of one dog!?!   I inked just the first half of the doxie and stamped him, then lined up the sentiment and stamped, and finally, I inked up just the back half and lined that up as best as I could.  It came together better than I ever dreamed it would - the loopiness of the font provided the "belly" of my little doxie!   I just needed to draw in his back with a fine tipped pen, and voila!   He's colored in with Copics, keeping lighter towards the center to make the sentiment more visible.   I love finding ways to "stretch my stamps", but this card takes it to another level - ha, ha!!

Happy for You!

Happy for You card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | Prismacolors | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

Hello!   Hope everyone had a lovely Easter!   Today I'm back with a spring card featuring the Newton's Nook Designs stamp set Beautiful Blossoms.

I've had so much fun coloring in these flowers - the quilled design is awesome and there's so many different things you can do with this set!   I used Prismacolors and a little gamsol to blend.   The 'for you' sentiment is also from the Beautiful Blossoms set.   The die (from MFT) was cut four times and stacked for some nice dimension and then coated with a layer of Glossy Accents.  Can I just tell you how much I love Glossy Accents, lol?!   My top three card finishers are Glossy Accents, Wink of Stella glitter pen and sequins.   It's rare that I don't use at least one of those "finishers" on a card!

I'll be back later in the week with a special post ;)   Stay tuned!
