CAS-ual Fridays & Chameleon Markers Friend Friday!

Hi friends!   CAS-ual Fridays and Chameleon have teamed up this month to bring you "Friend Friday", a weekly series of inspiration using CFS stamps and Chameleon markers!    You'll find my cards today over on the CAS-ual Fridays blog - head over and check it out!   There are prizes to win too!    Woo-hoo!!!

You're Awesome Like That!

Hi there! Happy Friday-eve!   I've got a super cheerful CAS-ual Fridays  card to share with you today.

I stamped and heat embossed the flower & leaves from CAS-ual Fridays' Pretty Posies stamp set on watercolor paper with white embossing powder.   I added color with Altenew inks and water and die cut them out with the matching dies.
I stamped and white heat embossed the border from Starlequin directly on my card base.   To pull in the colors from the flower, I used my Prismacolor pencils to add some yellow & orange shading to several of the diamonds.  I adhered the die cuts and added several yellow gems to the border.  That awesome sentiment is from Lovely Greetings - it's one of my favorites!
Hope you've enjoyed my card today - there's still an awesome clearance sale going on at CAS-ual Fridays - lots of stamp sets for just $7.77 each!   And if you use my code, KIMBERLY2017 at checkout, you'll save an extra 15%!   Super awesome, right?!

Newton's Nook Designs 4th Anniversary Blog Hop!

Hello friends!    I am so excited to be a part of the Newton's Nook Designs' 4 Year Celebration Blog Hop!    What a fantastic July release, right?!  I chose to work with the adorable Toucan Party stamp set and the Tropical Leaves stencil.   I am really excited to see NND adding stencils to their product line! Woo-hoo!

I found a toucan image online, and tried my best to color these little guys authentically - but there are so many fun color variations you could do - I can't wait to color more!   I fussy cut the image out and set it aside while I worked on the background.

I used the Tropical Leaves stencil for my background - I mixed several colors of Distress Ink into some translucent embossing paste.   I love the color variation within the leaves!   I happened to have the perfect color of cardstock to coordinate with the background, so I layered it over the top of the stenciled background and die cut a frame (from MFT) to serve as a spot for the toucans to "perch"!   I stamped the fun sentiment onto a piece of blue cardstock, added some clouds with white pigment ink, and then adhered the toucans at the top using an Action Wobble spring....so fun!

There's a great deal going on this week - a free Pawprints stencil with $75 purchase!   Be sure to check that out as well!

A Blog Named Hero July Challenge - Florals with Winnie & Walter!

It's time for a new challenge over at A Blog Named Hero!   Many of you are going to be thrilled with this month's theme - Florals!!    Our fabulous collaboration partner this month is Winnie & Walter - one of my longtime favorite stamp companies!   Between Winnie & Walter and Hero Arts, there are a ton of gorgeous floral stamps - the only difficulty is deciding where to start - ha ha!

I began by stamping and heat embossing the Bed of Roses stamp from Winnie & Walter onto a piece of vellum.   I heat embossed using a gorgeous glitter embossing powder from WOW!

I decided to try something different - using colored pencils on vellum.   I've done this before with Copics, and while pretty, I always see the streaks.   I felt that I got better blending with the colored pencils - I'll be doing this again!  I colored on the back side of the vellum piece for a more "stained glass" effect.

Because the floral piece takes center stage, I opted for a simple sentiment from Hero Arts' Color Layering Flamingo stamp set and heat embossed in white.

To preserve the stained glass look, I cut a rectangle from my card base and adhered the vellum on top.   To cover the adhesive, I added a piece of white cardstock with the window cut out as well.

Be sure to check out our challenge, and link up your entry!   Can't wait to see what you create!
