Hi guys! I have a fun tutorial for you today - mini galaxy bottles! These are so super cute - they'd make great party favors, or just something to give to a friend as a little reminder that they mean the world to you! I enlisted my kids' help to make these, and they had a blast!
Here's what you'll need - Distress Ink re-inkers, glitter, cotton balls, a skewer, water and a bottle (any kind will do as long as it has a resealable cap - I've made these larger and they're awesome too)!
Start by adding in a bit of water to the bottle and then squeeze a drop or two of Distress Ink reinker into your bottle. Add a shake of glitter and mix it with the skewer.
Next, add some cotton balls to the bottle. I like to stretch mine out - I just like the way it looks better in the bottle, but you don't have to do this! Push the cotton down into the water with the skewer. Keep adding cotton until most of the water is absorbed. Next, add some more water, a different color reinker and more glitter. Add cotton and gently push it down with the skewer (so you don't mix the colors too much). Keep going with as many layers of color/cotton as you like, till the bottle is full!
To make my bottles even cuter, I wanted to add a meaningful sentiment to them - but I definitely didn't want to cover too much of the fun galaxy! I decided to stamp a sentiment from the
CAS-ual Fridays 'Twinkle' stamp set onto a strip of acetate using Staz-On white ink. **TIP** Add a piece of removable adhesive to the backside of the acetate while stamping. Staz-On & acetate are quite a combo, and the acetate wants to lift. Repositionable adhesive keeps things in place while you're working!!
I wrapped the sentiment strips around the bottles and adhered them with a glue dot. Voila! A sweet message that doesn't obscure the galaxy!
My little bottles had a date code on the top that I wanted to cover up, so I did some quick distress ink blending (using the same colors I added to the water for my galaxy bottles) on a sheet off adhesive label paper. I stamped some of the stars from '
Twinkle' with Versamark, added white embossing powder and heat set it. I punched 1" circles from the label paper and adhered them to the top of the bottles.
This was such a fun project! I hope you give it a try! If you'd like to do some shopping at the
