Watercolor Emboss Resist

I'm playing along with another Papertrey Ink 9th Anniversary challenge - for this one we had to grab and gather supplies in five minutes - and we had to use everything we gathered!  I took inspiration from one of Dawn's release cards, so I knew what I had to gather (is that cheating?  oops!)

I stamped and heat embossed the doilies from the vault set Delightful Doilies in white on watercolor paper.   I added color with my Zig Clean Color Water Brush markers and heat embossed a sentiment from Winter Woods onto a strip of black cardstock.   I mounted the entire panel to a Raspberry Fizz top folding card base.   I had gathered the sequins, so I had to use them, but I'm not sure I'm in love with that look, lol!

Hope you've enjoyed my card!   See you again soon!

Sampler Squares with Papertrey Ink

Hi everyone!   I'm playing along with Papertrey Ink's 9th Anniversary Celebration.   The challenge from yesterday really intrigued me - we were to create a "sampler" of sorts, featuring nine 1 1/2" squares, each altered differently, and then mounted on a 5.5 x 5.5" square card base.   Here's what I came up with!

sampler | handmade card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | papertrey ink | hearts | love you | valentine
I used the medium heart from the Heart Prints die collection as my base, to keep a running theme throughout the card.  I altered it in many different ways - stamping on it, adding leaves (from the mini kit Garden Gild), cutting it from felt and adding a button, embossing, cutting it from vellum and sewing it up the center so it folds up, adding flowers & gems, etc.   The sentiment comes from the Tag-It's 11 stamp set.

This was a fun challenge, and I love how it turned out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Yay!   I was able to finish a card so I can participate in the AWESOME Holiday/Winter Coffee Lovers Bloghop!    It's getting crazy around this place....so much holiday stuff to get done before next week!    And what's up with this 'no snow' thing?   I live in Syracuse, NY, one of the snowiest cities in the U.S.,  and we've had 60 degree weather and not a bit of the white stuff yet.    I'm so sad!   It makes it hard to get in the Christmas spirit!  Sorry for the ramblings....I was able to find some time to craft this rainy day and here's what I came up with!

I have had this PTI tea set in my stash for ages and finally got a chance to use it!   I started by stamping the leaves from the PTI Turning a New Leaf stamp set in Hero Arts Soft Brown .   I added some berries with Memento Galaxy Gold ink.    I stamped and die cut the cute tea pot with the leaves (that almost match the other leaves!)  I used my brand new Altenew inks - I love how they stamp!   I added some gold accents and some red gems (it is almost Christmas!).   Sorry for the poor pictures - this darn rain is making it impossible to get a good shot!

Stamp-A-Faire 2015 - That's a wrap!

So I was able to find enough time to make one last card for Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire 2015.   I chose to do Laura's thread nest challenge (I miss Laura on the PTI team.....don't you?!?!).

I got my new Color Burst pigments in the mail today, and had to play with them...this is a mix of several of the blue and purple shades.   I absolutely LOVED how it turned out and since it didn't need much else, I thought it'd be the perfect background for a "thread nest" card.   I used metallic silver thread and a PTI die stacked several times for added impact.   Some Wink of Stella on the die and some Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Silver sequins finish the card!

Hope to see you back tomorrow for a fun beachy card!  I'm trying to hold on to the last bits of summer, lol!!!

Stamp-A-Faire 2015 - Pattern Challenge

Strawberry Patch card | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com
Good Morning!   I'm back with another card inspired by the Papertrey Ink Stamp-A-Faire Pattern Challenge.   This was one of Nichole Heady's patterns, and as soon as I saw it, I knew this was the one I wanted to take on!   I masked the area to the left and used a Simon Says Stamp stencil along with Distress Inks to get the soft blended pattern.   The strawberries are from the Strawberry Patch stamp set and the sentiment is from the Sweet As Can Be stamp set, both  from PTI.   I like the more pastel version of the strawberries....I normally would've gone red (of course!), but thought I'd step outside the box, lol!  Of course some Pretty Pink Posh Sparkling Sequins were just what the card needed to feel complete!

Stamp-A-Faire 2015, White Wedding!

white wedding card | vellum | kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

I'm playing along today with Papertrey Ink's Stamp-A-Faire!   I had a chunk of time this morning to do nothing but play, and I was thrilled to get three cards done....so here's the first of several posts to come!

The first challenge was to create a wedding card using nothing but white (and a neutral for a sentiment).   This is definitely something I've never done before!   I used a cover plate for the front of the card, backed with vellum.   The back of the card is Stampers Select white cut to about 7-8".   I scored it at 5 1/2" and added a scalloped edge   The two pieces were adhered together with Scor Tape along the skinny edges so that the inside of the card is nice and clean.   A layered vellum butterfly die (from the Pretty Peonies set) accented with rhinestones and an embossed sentiment finish up the card!

I'll be back shortly with another Stamp-A-Faire card!   I hope everyone has had a chance to get crafty today!!

Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Happy Friday!   Today I'm joining in on a fun blog hop - the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Since this is the spring version of the hop, I decided to use flowers on my card this time!   The cutie coffee cup is from the Newton's Nook Designs Love a la Carte set (pssst!   NND is also a sponsor of the hop!)  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.   I really love the color combo of coral and brown...so pretty!  I just noticed that the card goes really well with the blog hop logo, too - lol!!!   The hop runs from today through March 6, so if you get a chance, link up your creation!    It's so much fun to see what everyone comes up with!

Papertrey's 8th Anniversary! A Challenge Card....

Hello again!   I'm back today with a card I'm going to enter in one of Papertrey Ink's 8th Anniversary challenges.   The mission:   use a stamp set that hasn't yet seen ink!   Oh my, I have lots of those, can you relate?    Ha ha!!   I pulled out Doodlie-Do - man, I love that set.   Why have I not used it before now?!?

Flower card by Kimberly Rendino | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | doodlie-do | crafter's clay | prismacolors | embossing paste
I used a stencil and some translucent embossing paste in the upper left corner of my card base.   The focal panel is colored in with Prismacolors and edged with Distress ink.   The little butterfly was molded with Martha Stewart Crafters Clay.  Fun!

There are lots of festivities going on over at Papertrey Ink .   Head over there to check it out!

Stretch Your Stamps 2 Homework

I signed up for Online Card Classes "Stretch Your Stamp 2" and have enjoyed every minute of it!   I'm super behind on the homework, though, and since the gallery is closing soon (tomorrow, I think), I figured I'd better pop in and post something quick!

This homework is from day one.    The technique of watercolor resist isn't a new one to me, but if I don't have encouragement to break out the watercolors, it doesn't usually happen.  Watercolor is so pretty, but it's not easy for me, that's for sure.

In any case, from one background stamped panel, I was able to make four cards!   There's only three here, I still have one in the works.

I love how the middle card takes on a more manly vibe based on where I die cut the hello.  Losing the purple really worked wonders in this case!   I think that card is my favorite.    The cute little wood stars are from Pretty Pink Posh.   Love that open star!

I hope everyone taking the class has enjoyed it as much as me....I've been cruising the gallery, and there is so much to see!

Happy Happy Birthday! (PTI Make it Monday card)

Here's my (very) late entry for this week's Make it Monday from Papertrey Ink!   I used a Fillable Frame - not sure which one!   This was a fun challenge....and easier than I thought it would be!  I die cut the circle center from the coordinating colors of PTI cardstock and layered them up for a cool dimensional effect.

Here's a better look

Hope everyone has had a great weekend!
