Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Happy Friday!   Today I'm joining in on a fun blog hop - the Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Since this is the spring version of the hop, I decided to use flowers on my card this time!   The cutie coffee cup is from the Newton's Nook Designs Love a la Carte set (pssst!   NND is also a sponsor of the hop!)  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink.   I really love the color combo of coral and brown...so pretty!  I just noticed that the card goes really well with the blog hop logo, too - lol!!!   The hop runs from today through March 6, so if you get a chance, link up your creation!    It's so much fun to see what everyone comes up with!

NND Inky Paws Challenge #18 - Just One Layer

Happy Friday!  It's time for another Inky Paws Challenge over at Newton's Nook Designs - and let me tell you....a one layer card is certainly a challenge for me! It occurred to me as I was planning out this card that I've probably only made 2-3 one layer cards EVER, lol!

Here's what I came up with...

One Layer Card by Kimberly Rendino | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Newton's Nook Falling Into Autumn| MISTI tool

I used the leaves and sentiment from Falling Into Autumn for this card.   I stamped the leaves in Versafine black along the bottom edge of the card and added some gold dots with a paint pen.   I drew a thin black line and a thicker gold line using the straight edge of my ruler.   I positioned the 'thanks' leaves and stamped them right on the gold line using my new MISTI stamp press.   Such an amazing, awesome, and handy tool to have!  I was able to double stamp the sentiment in exactly the same spot to get a super bold black impression.

So there you have it, a one layer card! This would be really easy to mass produce.   It has a simple, yet elegant feel that would be great for wedding or shower thank you cards.

Head over to Newton's Nook to play along!  The challenge winner will receive a $10 store credit to our online store and an Inky Paws Challenge Top Pick Badge to add to your blog!   If we get more than 15 participants, we will choose two winners, so be sure to tell your friends to play along!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Papertrey's 8th Anniversary! A Challenge Card....

Hello again!   I'm back today with a card I'm going to enter in one of Papertrey Ink's 8th Anniversary challenges.   The mission:   use a stamp set that hasn't yet seen ink!   Oh my, I have lots of those, can you relate?    Ha ha!!   I pulled out Doodlie-Do - man, I love that set.   Why have I not used it before now?!?

Flower card by Kimberly Rendino | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | doodlie-do | crafter's clay | prismacolors | embossing paste
I used a stencil and some translucent embossing paste in the upper left corner of my card base.   The focal panel is colored in with Prismacolors and edged with Distress ink.   The little butterfly was molded with Martha Stewart Crafters Clay.  Fun!

There are lots of festivities going on over at Papertrey Ink .   Head over there to check it out!

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Naughty Newton

Hello there!   Today we have the CUTEST set to show you!   It's called 'Naughty Newton', and this set just completely cracks me up!

Naughty Newton card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | cat | watercolor
I used the image of Newton with the broken flower pots, but I have to tell you, I was seriously contemplating using the litter box image in a shaker card with kitty litter as filler.   I didn't know how many people would find that amusing, lol!   As a crazy cat lady myself, I'd find it hilarious, but I decided to go with something that might have more mass appeal - ha!!!

I broke out the watercolors again for this card - simple and straightforward.

Hope you're having fun hopping around!   Remember, the February release will be available to purchase tomorrow

Newton's Nook Designs February Release - Bunny Hop!

Welcome back, everyone!   I'm so excited for Newton's Nook Designs' February release.   We have two adorable sets to share with you this month, so without further ado, let me introduce 'Bunny Hop'!

Bunny Hop card by Kimberly Rendino for Newton's Nook Designs | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com | Easter | Shaker card
To create this cute shaker card, I started by stamping the bunny on watercolor paper with grey ink - I then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.   I made a mask for the bunny with post-it tape and then stamped his friend to the right and then his friend to the left.   I masked off all the bunnies and gave a quick watercolor wash of blue for the sky and green for the grass.  The shaker is filled with a variety of sequins - the sparkling clear and aquamarine are from Pretty Pink Posh.   The sentiment is stamped in Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder and the easter eggs are embossed in white.   I colored the eggs in with Copics and then colored over top of them with the colorless blender to mute the colors a bit.

Will ZOO Be Mine?

Hi there!   I'm back today with a cute Valentine's Day card featuring Newton's Nook Designs!

I just love the adorable animal print hearts in the Wild About Zoo stamp set.   I lined up all three of the hearts and stamped them with Versamark.  I (very carefully) coated each heart with embossing powder - Ranger Black, Zing Bronze and Ranger Liquid Platinum - and heat set.   The sentiment is also heat embossed in black.   I liked the simple look of this Valentine, especially for a man, so the only thing I added was a simple baker's twine bow.   I had the perfect zebra print paper in my stash, so I mounted everything to a red card base - and that completed the card!

Thanks for stopping by!

Newton's Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

Hi friends!    I hope you're having fun so far checking out all of the Sweet Treats the NND design team has created!

I've had these adorable test tube containers for ages now, and thought it was high time I put them to use - I knew they'd be the perfect little Valentine treat!

Sweet Treats Blog Hop Test Tube Valentine treats by Kimberly Rendino | Newton's Nook Designs

I used three stamp sets to create these li'l cuties -  Wild About Zoo for the conversation hearts,  Love a la Carte for the sentiments I used on the conversation hearts, and Apple Delights for the 'sweet on you' sentiment.

See those conversation hearts?   I stamped them by using the back side of one of the animal print hearts in the Wild About Zoo set!  I stamped the sentiments in red (stamped off once) to capture a real conversation heart feel.  Once I had several hearts stamped out I ran them through my Xyron and then fussy cut them out leaving a small white border.   All I had to do then was stick them onto the tubes!  The tags were stamped with the small solid heart stamp from Wild About Zoo and the sentiment from Apple Delights stamped over top.   I gave the tags a coating of glitter spray and tied them on with twine.   Super easy!

I know two kiddos who will appreciate these....but they'll probably be more interested in the M&M's inside, lol!

Thought I'd share....while I was trying to photograph these, my cat, Holly, REALLY wanted to play with them - so I was able to snap this cute pic.   Silly girl!

CFTMB Card #2

Okay, there was just too much darn inspiration in that photo, so I'm back with a second card for the Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge.   For this oneI used the dripping paint on the cake as my inspiration.

Bold Paint Splotch birthday card by Kimberly Rendino |Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

I used a Tim Holtz stencil along with Distress Paint to get the splotches.   After I had it done, I decided I really wanted a more "wet paint" look, so I went back over my splotches with Versamark (through the stencil) and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.   It looks pretty cool, IRL!   Some bold colored layers of cardstock and some Viva Decor dots finished the card off!

Make sure to check out the CFTMB challenge HERE!

Cure for the Monday Blues Challenge Card!

Ooooh, now isn't this inspiration photo delicious!    When I saw Taheera's Cure for the Monday Blues challenge this week, I HAD to play along!

Flower card by Kimberly Rendino | Kimpletekreativity.blogspot.com

Those awesome decorations along with the flowers in the foreground were my inspiration for this card.   I used punches to create the flowers out of tissue paper and Papertrey cardstock, and the leaf die is PTI's Turning a New Leaf. The centers are done with Viva Decor pens.  The bright colors make me happy!!

If you have a chance today to get inky, you can play along with the challenge HERE!
