Under the Milky Way....a challenge card!

Happy Hump Day!!   I decided to play along with the Moxie Fab World Trendy Star Power Challenge.   I have never played along before, but I love anything to do with stars, and inspiration kind of struck when I read Teri's post.   I wanted to create a kind of "galaxy" look to my card, so online I went to see what kind of pictures I could find for inspiration.   Here's what I found:

So I tried to figure out how I'd do this....I tried paint on black paper, but it just wasn't coming anywhere near capturing how cool that that image looks!   I remembered that I had just recently picked up a package of Ranger black glossy paper (black!   who knew!?!?).   I figured if I used some silver metallic mixative first , then I could get the colors to layer over top.   It worked!   I was so excited!   After I got it how I wanted it, I splattered some Dylusions spray over the whole cardfront, then sprayed it with Glitter Mist.   The rest was simple!   A silver heat embossed sentiment, some gemstones for stars, and it was complete!   I'm super happy with this card.   I think it's a pretty good representation of the picture!  Of course, looking at it now I wish I had added some raspberry colored alcohol ink, but hey - I guess we are our own worst critics, right?  LOL!

Here's a close up of the alcohol inks/sentiment....
To play along with the challenge, head over to the Moxie Fab World!

I'm also linking this to A Blog Named Hero for their "New Year, New Stash" challenge.....see, that new black glossy paper sure came in handy!  Ha!!

Also, head over to V's Sweet Challenge blog for their "Anything Goes" challenge.

Hope all is well where you are....I know this weather has been crazy and I hope everyone is staying safe and warm!   Two more days till the weekend :)

Inky Paws Challenge #6

Hi everyone!   I was able to find some time today to get a few cards done....finally!   I had been wanting to play along with the Newton's Nook Inky Paws Challenge for a few days, and here's what I came up with:

These were fantastic colors to work with!   I love the combination.   I just got the new set called Love a'La Carte, and it's adorable.  I stamped the cute cupcake on vellum and colored from the back side using a combination of colored pencils (for the white frosting) and Copics.

If you'd like to play along, head over to Newton's Nook!  The challenge runs through February 7th.   Hope your week is off to a fantastic start!

MIM, Round 2!

Played with more glitter today, lol!  To play along with PTI's Make it Monday yourself, check out Nichole's blog post here!

This hopefully counts as a glittered embellishment.....it's just that the embellishment is the entire cardfront....tee hee!   I went for an ombre look on this one.   I used some Martha Stewart glitters in pink and irridescent shades.   The sentiment is in Raspberry Fizz and overstamped with Versamark then embossed with sparkle embossing powder.   And the color more closely matches the hearts.   I had a hard time getting a picture that showed the true colors!

Hope everyone is having a great week!   We had a two hour delay for the kids here in NY.   The windchill was -27 this morning!   Ugh!    Hoping for warmer weather soon.....it's sad when 30 degrees will make me happy!!!

Another Make it Monday

Hi all!   So, I am such a bad blogger that I didn't realize until today that my cute template was MIA.   Turns out, it's been gone since November!   So I just did a quick fix and hopefully will get it back to a more attractive state ASAP!!  While I was fiddling around with it, I decided on a name change too!

Anywho, I played along with Papertrey's MIM again this week.   Heather showcased glittered elements.   It was super easy to run the die cut through my Xyron and selectively remove sections with a craft knife to add glitter.   I had a hot glittery mess going on in the craft room, lol!

Here's a close up of the multicolored glitter.   Love it!

Lawnscaping #73

Hi there!  Today I decided to play along with the Lawnscaping Challenge....here's the inspiration picture!

I went pretty literal with the picture....I was drawn to the hanging decorations and the colors.   Here's what I created!

I used the Lawn Fawn sets Sally's ABC's, Sweet Christmas and Here's the Scoop.   The confetti circles are the gingerbread man's buttons from Sweet Christmas and the streamer is from Here's the Scoop!   Hard to see in the photo, but the confetti is blinged out with Stickles.    If you'd like to play along with the Lawnscaping Challenge, hurry up!   Today's the last day to enter....

Hope everyone's having an awesome day!!!

Make It Monday 147

Hi all!   It's been awhile since I've blogged....or created anything fun, for that matter!   After returning from vacation in the beginning of December, I was hit hard with a sinus infection.   And by the time that cleared up we were in the thick of Christmas baking, shopping, wrapping, etc.!   Anyway - I'm back!    My hubby got me a new camera for Christmas, so I've been trying to figure it out, lol!    I certainly have a ways to go, but I think I'll be able to get better pictures soon.   One day at a time, right!?

So for the first thing I created since my (ahem) hiatus, I decided to play along with Papertrey's Make It Monday.   Betsy showcased multi-layer images, and I pulled out Movers & Shakers Sentiments and pieced together the 'Clouds' sentiment.   I stamped 'beyond' with Versafine and layered it, and I inked  'rainbows' with Memento markers and layered that.   They are popped up with dimensional tape, but it's hard to see that in the photo.   Before I added the dimensional layers, I masked the sentiment and used the banner string from Heart-2-Heart #5 as a rainbow - again inked with Memento markers.   For a subtle background I just adhered cloud dies and then matted the focal point with Blueberry Sky paper and called it quits!  I was sorely tempted to add some sequins, but I resisted!  I think simple was the way to go with this one.

Well, off to go clean up my mess....and maybe make something else!   Have a great weekend....
